DPM 2007 SP1. The Replica is Inconsistent. 0x8007007B

After installing Data Protection Manager (DPM) 2007 SP1, you start getting a lot of inconsistent replica errors including the error code 0x8007007B.

Error in DPM MMC:

The replica of Volume G:\ on server.domain.local is inconsistent with the protected data source. All protection activities for data source will fail until the replica is synchronized with consistency check. You can recover data from existing recovery points, but new recovery points cannot be created until the replica is consistent (ID 3106)
Changes for Volume G:\ on server.domain.local cannot be applied to \\?Volume{793ab29c-b9af-11da-bab1-806e6f6e6963}\WINDOWS\Debug\UserMode\ChkAcc.bak\. (ID 112 Details: The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect (0×8007007B))
